Day 1: Journey to Samburu

• Morning: Depart from Nairobi early in the morning by road. The drive to Samburu National Reserve offers spectacular views of the Kenyan highlands and semi-arid regions of northern Kenya.
• Afternoon: Arrive at your lodge or camp in Samburu in time for lunch. Settle into your accommodation and prepare for your first encounter with the unique wildlife of Samburu on an evening game drive. Look out for species rarely found elsewhere, like the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, and Beisa oryx.
• Evening: Enjoy dinner at the lodge and perhaps an introductory talk about the unique ecological and cultural aspects of the Samburu area.

Day 2: Full Day in Samburu

• Morning to Evening: After breakfast, spend a full day on game drives exploring different parts of the reserve. Your guide will help you spot the Samburu “Special Five”: Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Enjoy a picnic lunch beside the Ewaso Ng’iro river, where you might see elephants bathing.
• Evening: Return to the lodge for relaxation and dinner. Optional night game drives can be arranged to see nocturnal wildlife.

Day 3: Cultural Immersion and More Wildlife

• Morning: After an early game drive and breakfast, visit a nearby Samburu village. Learn about the Samburu people’s nomadic lifestyle, their traditions, and how they survive in harmony with nature.
• Afternoon: Return to the lodge for lunch and some rest. Later, head out for another game drive in the afternoon to catch more wildlife activities as the day cools down.
• Evening: Dinner back at your lodge. Spend the evening under the stars, possibly with local Samburu warriors sharing stories and dances.

Day 4: Sunrise Game Drive and Departure

• Early Morning: Take one last game drive at sunrise, when the light is particularly good for photography and animals are most active.
• Mid-Morning: Return to the lodge for breakfast, then pack up and check out.
• Afternoon: Begin your journey back to Nairobi, filled with memories of the rugged landscapes and rich wildlife encounters in Samburu.
